- What is Mass General Brigham Health Care at Home? Mass General Brigham Home Care previously known as Partners HealthCare at Home serves patients throughout Eastern Massachusetts with the broadest available range of in-home services from rehabilitation after illness or injury, to chronic disease management. Highly trained nurses, therapists, and other caregivers work closely with one another and with patients and their families to make sure that each patient gets the right kind of care at the right time.
- What is the nursing opportunity with Mass General Brigham Home Care and Nursing Liaisons? Nursing Liaisons RN’s have the opportunity to work per diem for Mass General Brigham Healthcare at Home as Visiting Nurses. Homecare is a fast-paced, challenging environment.
- What are the skills required to become a Visiting Nurse? Skills required involve excellent communication skills, flexibility, willingness to learn, adaptability, to provide advanced acute/sub-acute care in the home. Some of the advantages are autonomy and one-on-one patient care, patients in your geographic area, progressive point-of-care technology
- What does the visiting nurse do? Some of the impact a Visiting Nurse can have on a patient is to control the impact of acute and chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease as well as help reduce the complications caused by wounds and ostomies. Teach self-care techniques for asthma, diabetes, stroke, heart and respiratory conditions, wounds, ostomies, and catheters. Monitor a person’s vital signs blood pressure, heart rate, medication, and any special diet. Arrange for additional services if needed and communicate with others in the home health care team
- Is previous experience as a Visiting Nurse required? Not required but preferred. What is required is a willingness to learn, an ability to be flexible and adapt.
- What is the geographical area that Partners covers? Partners at Home is divided into North and South Regions. Boston is the dividing line for the regions. Within those regions are offices. Beverly, Braintree, Waltham, and Chelsea. In the offices, there are teams that cover specific geographical areas. The RN is assigned to a team close to their geographical area, but flexibility is required.

- What is the orientation? The orientation is held monthly in Waltham. It requires 3 days for the first four weeks. Two days are in the classroom, and one is in the field with a preceptor. The dates are known in advance. The orientations are held monthly
- What are the per-diem requirements? The per-diem requirements are 1-2 days per week. Agree to attend Oasis orientation between 6-12 months of employment. First 6 months no weekend requirement. Once Oasis training is completed (between 6-12 months) all per diems will participate in weekend rotation by working at least 1 weekend every 6 weeks (about 1 and a half months). After the 1st 6 months, all per diems will participate in holiday sign-up by covering one major and/or one minor holiday a year.
*** Oasis is the large information set that is collected when the patient is admitted, discharged, transferred, or recertified for Home Care.
- How will the RN’s get paid? RNs are employees of Nursing Liaisons. Payment is on the 15th and 30th of the month. Nursing Liaisons Inc. Is fully licensed and insured.
